Welcome to the
Young Actuaries initiative
We are delighted to present the transnational initiative for promoting the actuarial profession and supporting young actuarial talents in France, Germany, and Europe.
Established in 2024
The initiative was launched by the Institut des actuaires (IA) in France and the Deutsche Aktuarvereinigung (DAV) with a strong European perspective.
Unleashing potentials and fostering togetherness
The collaboration aims to support the career development of young actuaries and build cross-border communities across the European continent.
First program in March 2024
The CONVENTION A | EUROPE on 20 March 2024 will feature a session on “The Actuary of the Future”, highlighting the role of young actuaries in key developments such as sustainability and AI.
Our endeavor
The overall objective is to foster a broad exchange of actuarial associations committed to intensifying their interaction with young professionals and creating offerings together that go beyond the national horizon. In addition to individual association projects that can serve as best practices and become visible across countries, innovative joint and exchange activities will be implemented to strengthen the cross-border connections of young actuaries.
Our purpose
The Young Actuaries Initiative offers comprehensive career development and cross-border networking opportunities on a personal level. In a professional context, it enables young actuaries to shape the future of the profession by participating in and organizing events, both physical and virtual. On an intercultural level, the initiative fosters a transnational community and embraces diversity through various unifying social activities.
Our activities
The Young Actuaries Initiative is planning several activities with and for young professionals in Europe. As a project kick-off, a group of young actuaries from France and Germany have presented “The Actuary of the Future” at CONVENTION A | EUROPE on March 20th, 2024. More projects will follow soon … stay tuned!
Our partners
In April 2023, a bilateral meeting between the Institut des actuaires in France (IA) and the Deutsche Aktuarvereinigung (DAV) led to the idea of closely coordinating efforts on young actuaries and community building / career development. This led to the creation of a joint action at the beginning of 2024, which will now be developed across Europe.
“Young actuaries worldwide navigate the complexities of risk and finance, armed with their mathematical rigor and ready for innovation.
In a world that is increasingly complicated, with emerging risks influenced by interconnected factors, French and German young actuaries joining forces means they can share their dynamism to foster a renewed European actuarial excellence.”
Laurence Bauduin,
Chair, Institut des Actuaires (IA)
“For years, cross-border developments have become more important, e.g. accounting standards, sustainability and AI. This is accompanied by a need to work together across borders in order to effectively master today’s challenges.
With their joint initiative, the young actuaries from France and Germany are taking on a pioneering role that sets an example for other professions.”
Dr. Maximilian Happacher
Chair, Deutsche Aktuarvereinigung (DAV)
“The Young Actuaries initiative offers the opportunity to collaborate on subjects that affect us all, regardless of country.
What better way to shape the next generation of actuaries than to enable young people to join forces and learn new things together?”
Léa Emsalem,
Host, Club Jeunes Actuaires
“International cooperation among young actuaries is vital in today’s interconnected world.
By collaborating across borders we gain diverse perspectives, exchange knowledge and enhance our professional growth. It is also a great opportunity for innovation and creates a stronger actuarial community across Europe.“
Vanessa Dietze,
Host, Stammtisch Köln, Netzwerk Junge Aktuar*innen
